Oni Dodo: PRODUCT REVIEW: LOVE CHIN-CHIN AT TESCO

One of the things that are close to my heart is seeing African food in the mainstream. So when Love Chin Chin sent me some samples, I did not hesitate to try it out.

Love ChinChin is a delicious snack inspired from a famous family recipe. The product has been launched over a year now but since then it has been making waves with their recent deal with Tesco.

The first thing that struck me was the way the product was packaged. You would not have known it was chin chin in the packet. It looked like packet of nuts or dried fruit. You could tell it was carefully designed. Simple, clean but yet bold. The art work on the packet is an African woman wearing Ankara. Which I felt symbolized the origin of the product but still attractive to all.

Each flavour is set apart by the colours of the Ankara. (Vanilla, Lemon, Cinnamon and Chilli) I decided to try the vanilla flavour and I must say it was something I had never experienced before. Each bite was full with so much flavour, the coating was crunchy but the middle had this softness to it so I decided to heat it up for 20 seconds in the microwave and my goodness it was heaven in my mouth. Absolutely, irresistibly delicious!!! I could not get enough. I was hooked! I ate 2 packs in the space of 30 minutes. (Seriously it’s that deep).

Another thing I found was they are quite generous with the quantity which is surprising compared to other Chin Chin companies out there.

Each packet cost 99p and I think it’s worth it. I love the fact you can eat it around without people looking at you weird, its ideal for work, pack lunch or when you are feeling peckish.

Their websites shows which Tesco you can purchase them from and also other retailers. My only criticism is I wish it was not in the world food section in Tesco but instead in the confectionary section as it’s a snack that everyone will enjoy not just Africans.
