VIDEO: RESTAURANT REVIEW SARASTRO

Sarastro is a Turkish orientated but mainly Mediterranean restaurant. It is one of those places you have to try just for the experience. The interior design is modelled on theatre so you feel like you are dining in one. As we stepped in, it felt like a different world entirely; shoes, umbrella and all sorts hanging in every corner. It definitely has the novelty factor. We sat in one of the booth which gave an overview of the restaurant but wished we sat downstairs as all the fun were downstairs even though they tried bringing it upstairs to each booth.
Another touch was the live performance by a string quartet and opera singers which made it all magical.

What We Ordered
For Starters we had warm brown bread, butter and mezze (hummus, olives, cous cous salad, mushroom borek, sucuk beef slices and yoghurt with cucumber and garlic) to share.

For my mains I had Seafood Linguine which had calamari, prawns and mussels in a creamy tomato and basil sauce. The Hubz had Rack of Lamb with dauphinoise potatoes and shakshouka.

We both had a mixture of strawberry, vanilla and chocolate ice cream for dessert. (no it’s not Tesco ice cream you get from some Chinese restaurant lol! I have been a victim before o! )

Price
The Lamb was dear which is normal but everything else was reasonably priced. So about £30 pp is more than enough.
Verdict
The Sucuk was absolutely delicious, the seafood was filled with calamari and just two king prawns and mussels. I was totally gutted. However the sauce was creamy and although I was stuffed after the starters I managed to finish it so it went down really well.
Hubz: Lamb was well cooked, the garlic confit and port jus complemented the dish but the portion for a rack of lamb was disappointing.
The service was horrendous but the entertainment provided covered this as they brought everyone in.
